Throw ‘em in ye sea!
Bring yea, gang plank!
more rum fer you and me,
the way that it should be.
On this ship we settle things according to decree,
and when in doubt of punishment - Gangplank it shall be!
Jonathan Taft, tied here to the mast,
Fer swabbing slowly, acting lowly, sailing were its far to shoaly
Jonathan Taft, yer sentence shall be passed
No more grog, on bread n’ water rations yea will last.
I promised I’d keep you ‘til we reached Gibraltar
But I have grown tired of yer ugly face.
And I’m running low on coin to pay yer maties,
So I have a different verdict fer yer crimes.
Throw ‘em in ye sea!
Bring yea, gang plank!
more rum fer you and me,
the way that it should be.
On this ship we settle things according to decree,
and when in doubt of punishment - Gangplank it shall be!
Trevor McBain, before us here again,
accused of stealing, witch-craft healing, playing with our swab-boy's feelings.
Trevor McBain, you shall be detained,
In the brig, you will spend, fourteen days in chains
Let it be known, I hold no grudge against you.
But I'v sorta' taken a liking to yer wife.
Fer quite some time now, I've been waiting fer this moment
Ye needn't worry, I'll treat her with respect!
Throw ‘em in ye sea!
Bring yea, gang plank!
more rum fer you and me,
the way that it should be.
On this ship we settle things according to decree,
and when in doubt of punishment - Gangplank it shall be!
Best sea shanty album of all time bar none. I remember when I first heard it; became my favorite album of all time. I was astounded cause... I liked every song! Martin Flaherty
This might be my favourite of Heilung. They've improved a bit on their later releases but their debut is still much meaner, and darker. Maria's amazing voice obviously steals the show but I also quite like Kai's too, especially on the live performance. In fact I'd say get LIFA over this IMO.
The spoken word bits are really cool to hear proto-germanic in use but for relistening purposes they are going to be a bit obtrusive. Nevertheless the proper music here is on continual repeat for me. Rabbit
Beautifully played and full of moving vocal performances, the Bay Area singer/songwriter's latest is a stellar work of art. Bandcamp Album of the Day Feb 3, 2023
i like this version better than the original. The middle part has that aggression that makes the excellent balance with the beginning and ending of the song. owlobo
